Early in October of 2009, I did something I hadn't done in 34 years. I picked up a paintbrush again.

It all began with three things and a bowl: three peppers picked in Sperryville Virginia, and a small blue china bowl. These small, everyday objects became a conversation capturing the interplay of three things: the light, the object, and shadow.

I love simplicity and am drawn to simple things: texture, color and shape; highlights, surfaces and reflections. The paintings are an ongoing attempt to capture a glimpse of the marvelous effect of light in our lives. The drawings are a means of exercising hand /eye coordination and understanding what I see. Writing is an exercise in clarifying what I think and what I feel.
